CSBA Ride Report – Leap around Lancaster April 6th, 2019

- The Afternoon Crew at lunch – Mt Gretna Hide-a-Way

We give thanks to God for His wisdom and His Blessings….

The one thing we can state with authority is there is never a dull time to be had at a CSBA ride event. This was our season opener, and our friends came out to be present and accounted for. We started the day with 32 pilots and a few drop-in guests. We were also blessed to have one of our long-term members visiting us from the Carolinas to join us for the day (Kairi and his brother Julien) along with some new faces within the ranks, which is always welcome. A very handsome bunch I must say!

We did have a few minor incidents that are worthy of reporting. One of our new riders experienced a failure on his clutch cable and therefore was unable to complete the ride with us. Matko was only able to join us for a short period of time, and broke off and left us mid-morning. We also had a few other riders that wanted to venture off and meet back up with us at the lunch stop.

An epic fail on my watch happened as my Garmin GPS unit finally went DOA, just as I rolled up to the ride. We tried to hard splice it, but all I managed to do was blow-up my auxiliary connection. (I would later visit with Mike to get it fixed) Our day started as a typical ride day would – we chatted, reviewed the rules of the ride and rules of the road, and then broke up into groups.

- Reviewing the rules of the ride and road with the group -

Luckily for me we had other veteran riders that knew the route, so Mark, Chris, and Russ all picked up the slack. I ran in a chase group behind Mark, and we all enjoyed a great morning and afternoon ride. The roads were incredibly clean, given the fact that rain had just cleared them off the night before. The temps were mild, so we were in a great place to enjoy a good day of riding.

We broke bread and exchanged our stories from the ride during lunch. After lunch, I shared the word and enjoyed a brief discussion on our topic. Our season opener was a great success – finally a scheduled ride that wasn’t canceled due to weather. We remain encouraged for next month!

As I always do, I’d like to take this moment to thank everyone for your continued participation, involvement and giving attitudes on our rides and events. Whether you come out to ride or just break bread with us – we welcome your participation. These rides are designed for you, our riders, to enjoy the roads and have fellowship with us. We’re promoting a fellowship and an environment in which we want you to come and enjoy your love with others that share your passion for riding.

Visit our CSBA Day @ the Races Event page (www.facebook.com/CSBA.Day.at.the.Races) for additional information or our next street event “Blue Mountain Run” Ride. On behalf of the CSBA and our chapter, we give thanks to you for coming and enjoying the day with us. See you again soon and don’t hesitate to reach out to me (or any CSBA member) with any and all questions you may have about our rides or the CSBA Organization. Blessings to you all!

Growing Stronger on the Road of Resistance…
“Woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up…”
ECCLESIASTES 4:10

Have you ever met someone who was known as a rugged individualist? Sometimes AKA (also known as) “The Lone Wolf’, or an “Individual Contributor”, “Survivalist”, etc. You probably have; why you may even consider yourself to be one. Even if you aren’t, you may secretly admire them, with their drive and determination, their independent nature and attitude, and their seemingly lack of concern about what others think of them…

Anyone who has made a commitment to Jesus Christ is something of a rugged individualist. He or she isn’t going to live the same way everyone else lives; as a believer – their main goal now is to follow Christ. This may mean being scorned at times by family and friends, or even taking a stand for what is right instead of what is popular.

OK - But here’s a twist: while those characteristics are wonderful, in many ways a Christian must NOT be a rugged, independent individualist. Yep – they must master both. Instead, when we come to Christ we become part of a family – the body of Christ and the Church. Instead of being concerned only about ourselves, we become concerned about others in the family and their needs as well. We become connected and begin to develop purpose, just as you have in your own personal families.

Support and Resistance are key variables we must navigate if we’re to be truly successful in life. These factors are focus points for many things we encounter. As riders, our tires give us with resistance on the road – but that very resistance also provides us with the traction and grip we need to hit that twisty with full confidence. Support and resistance help to guide us – so becoming more aware of them in our daily walk in life can only help us. Understanding and acknowledging support and resistance within our life will help us be better humans.

So how do we become more aware of this and grow spiritually? We grow through the study of God’s Word. We will never grow in grace and in the knowledge of God until the Bible becomes part of our lives every day.

We grow through prayer. We should be in an attitude of prayer throughout our day. In every choice we make, we should ask our Heavenly Father which way we should go and listen for Him to say, “This is the way, walk ye in it” (Isaiah 30:21 KJV).

We grow as well through our fellowship with other believers. Through worship, through hearing His Word preached and taught, through interaction with more mature believers, and ultimately by developing a personal relationship with Him. These are the ways we grow stronger in our discernment and awareness.

Just as exercise makes us physically stronger, exercising our faith by sharing it with others and doing God’s work makes us spiritually stronger. Are you sharing your story and faith with others? Ask for God’s wisdom and presence to help you become more aware of “Support & Resistance” opportunities around you. Just as you faithfully follow us through these turns on our rides, learn to follow Him and exercise your faith in ALL aspects of your life. Trust me, you’ll be so much happier once you do. We are taught, we must ask (through prayer) for the things we want. Humble yourself and bend a knee. If you don’t know the Lord and want to learn more about him, please don’t hesitate to talk with me, or your friends here. The CSBA serves as your Godly guide and as a light to help guide you, not only for your riding but for your spirit too. Don’t be afraid to ask – that is why we are here. Blessings!
