On Saturday January 7, 2017 we held our first event of the new year. This year we changed venues for our January Breaking Bread Luncheon and held it at Red Robin Gourmet Burger's in Quakertown, PA.

Those who followed us last year know that several of our events scheduled throughout 2016 were plagued with many weather challenges and for this first event of 2017 we were again faced with the same outcome. As many woke up to find snow falling with some roadways becoming too slippery for travel, we were faced with the decision of whether or not to cancel the event. Fortunately for the Lehigh Valley the impacts were minor and we were able to hold our first luncheon with 13 members and guests in attendance. Meanwhile, a few of our guests from southern areas were unable to attend as a result of more severe impacts from the winter storm in their perspective areas.

Starting at 1 p.m. people began trickling in and most were there by 1:15 p.m. In attendance were John L, Nelson, Lisa, Erin, Rusty, Rick, Jim, Zori, Ana, Becky, Brianna, Chris, and John D. As we all arrived, John L. distributed some wall calendars, magnets, and other CSBA goodies to everyone. We greeted one another, gave our blessings for the New Year and then sat down to recollect on the past year's experiences. John D. braved the weather and drove all the way from Maryland to join us. He discussed various new motorcycle safety technologies and the improved outcomes in crashes on race tracks as a result of them (specifically helmets and air bag technologies). Together we all shared stories about last year's rides and track day events. Jim reminisced about his high paced 2-up Shamokin screamer ride and how he was in the zone the whole ride not realizing his pace was so brisk that he was leaving the back of the pack in the dust. Rusty mentioned that it was a relatively mild season as far as crashes, though there were a few, only one incident resulted in an injury that required immediate medical attention. Thrown in between all that were a few mechanical mishaps that delayed a couple of the rides. On the track last year everything was status quo with not much happening other than a good time. We continued to embrace each others company as our food arrived, discussing a variety of topics by that point. The food, service, and accommodations were great at Red Robin and we thank them for welcoming our group. By 3:30 p.m. a few people had to leave to attend other commitments, but the rest stayed until closer to 5 p.m. discussing driving the Lord's message and awareness at track days.

If you missed our January CSBA Breaking Bread Luncheon you will have another chance to come join our local chapter along with our friends & families as we break bread in fellowship and rejoice for the new riding season at our “Breaking Bread Luncheon” in February. In keeping with tradition, here’s your opportunity to meet new friends and learn more about the CSBA as an organization. Meet some of our ride leaders, learn more about our CSBA Day @ the Races venues, and most importantly – reconnect and make some new friends that share your passion of riding.

If you find yourself with a few free hours on Saturday February 4th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., we encourage you to come out and enjoy a nice lunch with us at the Cheesecake Factory, 640 West Dekalb Pike, King of Prussia, Pa. - Pass the word and invite your friends and families for a nice lunch with us – and don’t be afraid to bring your children – Breaking Bread is a family event.
