Hello Brothers and Sisters,

I'm stepping deep in it here....as I am only about 75-80% complete with the REV3FZ1 Reverse Trike conversion...but here goes!

Announcing the first "First Shot Riide" in beautiful NC Blue Ridge Parkway (among other great roads) Monday 01/01/2018. KSU (hey, i don't have one of these any more) approximately 10 am weather permitting.

this thread will serve as the who's coming list as well.

Cheers and God bless,

Skiff

I’ll put it on my calendar, but “weather permitting” is an understatement. Location to meet at?

Well, I said I had stepped into a big on this time! All set to break case halves and do the much needed second gear R & R Saturday...and I missed a critical note in the service manual...I didn't have the 16 X1.55 mm bolt aka alternator rotor removal tool. By the time I realized it was missing, the only place one could be purchased was closed. So off to Automotive fasteners this am...
This boils down to engine/transmission not done, Engine not installed. No bike/trike to ride...
Oh, and not to mention, no one from Triad Chapter responded.
ZeroNet thanks for the thought of coming down to ride...That means so much to me. Hey, Remember the last time we did a first Shot Ride together?
it was dreadfully cold. We should have won the Frosty Paws, Frozen Chosen and any other named ride for the mentally disturbed that year! Good Times, Great Memories.
I'm still taken aback at the way I've been abandoned by my (so called) riding friends. These guys and gal were the ones I rode many miles with, Lots of weekend trips...a few of us followed thru and did annual cross country runs. If I didn't call them once in a while, I don't think I'd hear from any of them, ever. Well, there is one guy. We attend the same church, so we talk when we run into each other. And my BFF riding buddy? In the four years since my crash, he's called me (with intention) once. That was this past September, on my birthday! I asked 'Who is this? Where is my friend, and why are you using his phone." To his credit, he has butt dialed me 25 times this year. Never answered, but he did butt dial me.
My own brothers are no better in this area
(riding). Heck, maybe my crash scared them so bad they can't stand to be around me...Some gave up riding all together, like my BFF. Also, one of my student/ beginner riders quit and sold his ride after one visit to see me at the hospital. Maybe it's Parkinson's Disease. Heck, I don't think I'd want to be around me in this present condition. And this Reverse Trike project? This is my last chance to get out and enjoy a few more miles riding, before I can't drive any more...and I have trouble getting enough interest in finishing it so I can ride. When I do get out in the garage and work on it, it takes me forever to complete simple tasks. Partly, from the damaged hand, partly from PD...either way, I don't recognize the fellow I see in the mirror any more. He was fun, he was strong, he was a positive thinker, he was a real biker, a real friend, husband, lover, father.
This is my reality now...my PD symptoms are still not readily obvious to many people, friends as well as those that never knew me before PD. What will it be like when I can no longer, walk, feed myself, take care of other personal things?

WOW I really took a left turn on that rabbit hole!

Sorry, I didn't intend to start a whine fest...If nothing else this forum allows me to rant ,whine whatever, without repercussion. thanks for that. Don't feel obligated to reply, this is therapeutic for me somewhat. I can get on with my day now and not think of how bad it will be...because it's not that bad,, yet. Iv'e got to unload and stack about 3/4 cord of split oak firewood from the trailer so I can get hay for the ponies. then I have another 2-4 cord split that needs to be brought into the wood shed before the next rain. That will leave a shortage of about 6-8 cords needed to get me through the winter. I have plenty of wood taken down last spring. but it's not yet split. Anyone who heats with wood knows that it's gotta breath for 6 months to extract all of the unwanted moisture for best BTU heat...

Thank you God for the abilities I still posses, help me to finish this day the way I started it...talking to you Lord. May these ramblings be used in some way to help someone to be a better friend to others. (this line is truly for you, the CSBA brothers and sisters, since there are very few of you who I've met, and those that I do know are in other states, so I'm not trying to get you to feel sorry for me. JUST GET OFF YOUR BUTTS PICK UP THE PHONE AND CALL THAT PERSON WHO YOU'VE NOT TALKED TO IN AGES. BETTER YET HOP ON YOUR BIKE AND GO VISIT THEM. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING ON?
Blessings

I get where you're coming from. The membership's been QUIET for a few years now. I hardly get to ride with so much to do, and I didn't think I was going to make it given the insanely low temps predicted (remember I have to leave before 6 AM to get to your neck of the woods in the morning). Maybe when things warm up some.

I spent "Christmas break" replacing the struts on my mom's Highlander (a horror story of sorts unto itself). Next weekend I have to service the Prius and then the next weekend I'm helping a guy move a friend up from Florida. Maybe then I can start my "winter maintenance" on the Blackbird.

Hey guys, I was wondering if this ride was going to go through as planned or not. Let's hope for warmer temperatures. :)

hey scraperman, the temps had less to do with the failed attempt than the fact that i had no bike ready or a pilot willing to haul me. although, to be honest, i'm glad i didn't have to ride as i think that 4 years of no riding at all has made me soft and i do get chilled fast now...drats.

my new deadline is feb 1.. 4th anniversary of my crash. and, if i miss that one i'll continue to reset the test drive date till i make it
